Could my program selection have to do with creating a floating barge that functions as a water desalination plant? For more information about desalination plants, clickhere. This infrastructure investment could be beneficial in the Bay Area as our water is imported across the state. According to "Water supplies for the Bay Area" website, "we live in a desert magically transformed into an oasis via billions of gallons of water over the last hundred years." This is made possible because the region "imports more than 65% of its water through the Hetch Hetchy Aqueduct, the Mokelumne Aqueduct, the State Water Project and the Contra Costa Canal (part of the Central Valley Project)" (discussed in this website with more detail).

A blogger, "Mermaid," recommended this website to me. This website shows projects by IMF, International Marine Floating Systems, Inc., which specializes on water real estate. I particularly find the transport of these systems by cargo ship of interest. I am thinking of using the Oakland estuary as my site for my design proposal, which is already a major West Coast port.
